Explore The Hub-The Roasterie & Heaping Plato

Located at 605 Morrill Rd, Ames, IA, The Hub-The Roasterie & Heaping Plato is a unique and welcoming spot that combines two distinct dining experiences: a cozy café and a vibrant Greek restaurant. The atmosphere of the space may seem unusual at first, as these two concepts blend together, but both areas offer a pleasant setting for different occasions. It’s an excellent place for students to grab a quick bite, study, or even people-watch, especially considering its proximity to the library, though it’s worth noting that the area sometimes hosts protests, which can add a bit of excitement to the surroundings.

The food at The Hub is widely appreciated for its quality and flavor. The Heaping Plato section offers delicious, healthy meals, with the spicy falafel being a favorite among visitors. Known for its satisfying and flavorful options, it caters to those seeking a nutritious lunch with a bit of a kick. The café portion, run by The Roasterie, serves up excellent coffee and gelato, even impressing non-coffee drinkers with its creamy offerings. The gelato is a surprising treat that pairs well with a coffee break or a casual snack.

For those on a budget, particularly students, The Hub provides an affordable option without sacrificing quality. Whether you're stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or just a coffee break, you’re sure to find something that suits your tastes. I've had breakfast and lunch here!! They have great healthy options. Spicy falafel is something I would suggest for anyone to try!! Its an affordable place for students.

The Plato is great. Ingredients are very fresh and it is decently quick to get your food. Place is often packed, and the only downside is that the resulting lines can be quite long.

I am addicted to the bowl with lemon garlic chicken on a bed of lettuce with my selection of fixings. So well-cooked, fresh, and healthy! I recommend trying the tzatziki sauce and fried chickpeas.

why don't we have more cafes like this one at ISU!? Coffee is great, gelato is great, food is great. Please build another one!

The food is good (in both places) And the service is quick and an excellent place to study the atmosphere I'd odd since you essentially have a cafe and a Greek restaurant smashed together but both atmospheres are nice just an odd combination Good place to people watch as well but beware of protesters as it's right by the library and people like to protest there (Thankfully they arnt protesting the cafe)

The rice and chicken bowl is amazing. There are cabbage, salsa and other salads to chose from as toppings on rice and chicken plate. The bowl is filling and right across the library which makes it a wonderful place for lunch. Wish it was open during evening.

The heaping plato is an absolutely fantastic place to stop for lunch. Honestly, if I had enough flex meals I'd eat there everyday. It's quite healthy and brings a wonderful flavor with a kick. Also, though I'm not a coffee person, I've been impressed with the Gelato served by the Roasterie. If you stop by the Hub you'll find something you enjoy.
